ZIP Files and You: A primer for modern times
To submit your music for download, we need a zipped, or compressed, file. This single file will contain all of your mp3s and artwork or whatever.
How do you do that? Here's how:
- Place all of you mp3 files in a single folder on your computer.
- Right-click on the folder. Depending on your operating system you'll see the option to either "Compress", "Archive", or "Send to Compressed (zipped) folder" or something like that.
- Do it. (the end result should have a .zip at the end of the file, but it could be .sit or .bin. All are fine.
- Upload the zipped file to Google Drive, Dropbox, AWS, or whatever other storage you'd like to use. Just follow the steps and you'll see it's not that difficult to do. Include a link to your zip file in our Submission Form. We'll download the zip file and do the rest of the work.
- That's it.
Please don't send us a link to a page with links to all your mp3s. We don't want to have to download them all individually and then zip them up for you. As always, if this is your only option we can probably help you out, but if you can do any of the work that'd be very helpful and your stuff will get up on the site much faster.
If you have ANY questions or need help, just ask. Really. We'll help. SRSLY.
What to include in your zip file: mp3 files, artwork, a band photo... please be reasonable about it. We will look at the contents of the zip before posting it for download, and if you've included numerous pictures of the drummer's old cat or text documents full of bad poetry, we will probably remove them before uploading. Please edit yourself. We're in this together, people!
